Broaching
Broaching is a metal-cutting operation in which a tool with multiple cutting edges is used and the tool carries out the cutting movement. With the series of teeth arranged in the broaching tool, no feed movement is required with this technique. The material to be removed is taken off by a pulling or pushing movement of the broaching tool (broach). Broaching tools give a profiled shape to drilled holes or outer surfaces. Broaching is used when difficult profiles with a high surface finish and exacting dimensional accuracy have to be produced in quantity.
